sanctions-pressure) turns the OFAC SDN and Consolidated lists plus Global Affairs Canada SEMA/JVCFOA designations into an actionable overview: which countries are under the most designation pressure right now, what programs are driving it, and what has changed since the last update.
What the panel shows
The panel is a compact, analyst-oriented surface (defaultRowSpan: 2):
- Summary bar — cards at the top: New (new designations since the last update — highlighted when
> 0), SEMA (semaCountfrom the GAC list;0if that fetch failed), Vessels, Aircraft. - Country rows — top 8 countries by sanctions designation pressure, each row showing the country label, total designation count, and the program mix.
- Program rows — designations grouped by program (OFAC programs plus SEMA, JVCFOR, HAMAS, SETTLER).
trackActivity: true) so newly arrived designations get the standard new-item visual treatment.
Panel id is sanctions-pressure; canonical component is src/components/SanctionsPressurePanel.ts. Displayed title: “Sanctions & Designations” (from super({...})).
How you reach it
- Cmd+K: type sanctions or OFAC.
- Availability by variant: registered and enabled by default in the full/geopolitical (priority 2), finance (priority 1), and commodity (priority 1) variants. Not present in the tech or happy variants. Source:

Data sources
SanctionsPressureResult payload from @/services/sanctions-pressure, backed by:
- OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list
- OFAC Consolidated List
- Global Affairs Canada SEMA / JVCFOA consolidated list (
sema-ca)
newEntryCount. SEMA <Country> is the regulation, not nationality, so it is stored on programs / the note rather than countryCodes.
A SEMA row whose own identity fields are unusable (no regulation, a non-numeric item, an IMO that is not seven digits, or no name) is held back rather than repaired, and the rest of the list still publishes. The held-back row IDs and reasons appear under sourceHealth["sema-ca"].quarantined in seed-meta:sanctions:pressure. If more than 1% of rows are held back, or any row breaks the table’s field or date contract, the whole SEMA source is rejected for that run.
Refresh cadence
OFAC publishes list updates on an irregular cadence (daily-to-weekly). The panel reads the most recent snapshot; freshness is surfaced indirectly vianewEntryCount.
Tier & gating
PRO-gated. The panel is visible in its configured variants, but the sanctions-pressure RPC requires a PRO entitlement. Free or unentitled callers receive a documented403 response instead of an empty sanctions payload.
